Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Plant
4-stroke gas engines are used for CHP plants for production of electricity and heat. Plant sizes can be in the range up to 50 MW. By converting from power production on other fossil fuels to a natural gas fired CHP plant, the CO2 emissions from the power production will be reduced by factor 2 to 3.
The heat produced can be used for heating of buildings or for industrial processes. Hot water is distributed into the district-heating network and used for heating of public buildings and private dwellings. The electricity produced in co-generation with the heat is delivered into the local electricity distribution systems.
For larger building complexes it is possible to include an additional feature to the concept, as water for cooling purposes can also be provided from the CHP plant.

4-stroke engines
4-stroke medium speed diesel engines are mainly used for power generation into smaller electrical grids such as on islands, in remote areas, in fast track development projects, or for industrial purposes such as auto-producer. Medium speed engines are competitive for intermediate or base load power plants up to the 200 MW range.
